I have the VHS/DVD combo machine mentioned in the Subject line. When I dub a VHS tape to DVD, it doesn't seem to consistently record audio while, video is fine. I have read here, in reference to other combo machines on this website, that a separate VCR would need to be hooked up. Would that also be the case with what I have? |

A seperate VCR is needed when the tapes are retail. You've either got a defective recorder or bad tapes. Look at one of the tapes in question and see if the bottom edge of the tape is crinkled. |

I think the machine is defective because, after I read your reply, I went ahead and, erased a DVD-R/W and, started dubbing the same VHS tape again. In the beginning I was getting audio from the tape but, then the dubbing continued, without audio. |
