Hi was just wondering if theres any advantage of getting a 36 inch dish over 33 inch dish with my motor setup?

C00lsat 7k
SG2100
I currently only have a 18 dish :-(
I will install a circular and linear lnbs to a Diseqc Switch to this new dish...33 or 36?
(I can't afford the fancy Invacom quad LNB)

I live in Ottawa, Ontario.

Consider this:
33-36" dish
One Universal LNB good for 118.7/119W
One LNB for 110W
One LNB for 97W - Galaxy TV

One DisEqC 4 to 1 switch.

Mitch
With a motorized System you are better off with the 36" dish, around $50.00, $10.00 more then
the 33"

you will have better reception... size do matters, even if it's is a small difference; when getting true FTA satellites (satmex 5, IAD 5,6 etc...)

Odd... I always thought a bigger dish meant more signal. A bigger dish should make it easier to fine tune since it's receiving more of the signal from the satellite.

I dunno. Maybe it's just me trying to apply logic to fta....

TESTER,tell me what do you mean by fine tune a dish? and why would it be harder? Dish size depends on your location and the satellite you want. Why do you think they make a 31", 33", 36" and a 39" Dish?

with the some of these ku sat's getting the quality is just like that. I have seen someware the explanation of why the bigger the dish harder is to tune.....think of the signal from a satellite its like the size of a window....on the 18" dish's the entire antenna would be the suze of the "window" on a 10 foot but the "window" of the dish's signal is the same but the dish antenna is alot bigger to get in the small window.

Dish size has not much to to with amount of signal. It has more to do with type of signal you are trying to catch. A 18" will not get the signal from a ku fta sat with "in the clear" channels. You have to have a 31" dish or better to receive them. You have to have a BUD to receive the C-band sats as well....but the bigger dish's can receive the others
