While taping something on TV I had occasion to rewind, then fast forward pretty quickly, and tried unsuccessfully to eject the tape.

I have unplugged and replugged the set, and even fished for the tape manually but it's stuck fast.

Now every time the TV is turned on, there is a sound of a tape rewinding.

Any suggestions on how I might remedy this situation?

I realize that I might have to purchase a separate VCR, but if I connect that to the TV will it work properly when the tape is still stuck in the TV?
