Hi All- Recently picked up a Toshiba SD V295 VCR/DVD player combo for my basement TV. After a recent power failure I am unable to shut off the subtitles (or closed captions, can't tell) when playing a VCR tape. There is nothing in the VCR menu to control this, and subtitles are set to OFF in the DVD menu. Any ideas? Thanks in advance- |

I wish it was that easy...at this point I'm convinced it's shot. Thanks. |

I've never seen a VCR with CC capability. CC is done at the TV, the VCR just passes the info to the TV. |

Agreed, there is no option in the VCR menu...but nonetheless, I am ONLY getting closed captioning/subtitles when viewing a tape in that VCR. No issues with my TV, DVR, DVD or even playing the tape in another VCR. |

I have a Toshiba DVD recorder that has the option for the recorder to do CC, it's possible that your combo does too. I don't use combos, so I don't know if it might or not. |
