After direct TV installed HDDVR why does it take forever for the tv to respond to a channel change?

Not forever
maybe a second or two

Changing aspect ratio and resolution as yo flip thru your channels can cause delay
some are 480, others 720 or 1080 in 4:3 and 16:9

Also some smart receivers with wizard programs do the stretching and aspect ratio changing with correct upscaling or downscaling automatically can also causes delay.

Yo'll get used to it.
