Bigga, Laura, Kamran: To avoid entering keys manually, you can install the latest software bins in your boxes, then, the keys will be loaded automatically and you will not lose your channels. To do this, you have to use your computer, and need a cable, usually a standard RS 232 printer cable, with 9 pins on the connection. Some newer boxes carry a USB port. You need to download two pieces of software: 1. The loader 2. The bin You get these at any of these sites: http://www.dssrookie.com/forums/ http://ftabins.net/index.php http://www.dsstester com/ They are free. Some sites require that you register, but its simple. When you enter any of these sites, look for the brand (Pansat, Viewsat, Fortec, etc.) and model of your receiver, then you will download the proper software. Also, you will find instructions on how to download, unzip and install the software. When you install the latest bins, your box gets the new keys from the signal stream, and you dont need to input keys manually every time they change. Keep in mind that bins are updated occasionally. And, while you install the bins, so that you donīt need to wait for keys to be posted, here you can find them: http://www.dss-keys.com/ http://www.ftasolutions.blogspot.com/ |

If it all worked until U changed the bin, then it wouldn't be a hardware problem....U just needed to recheck the antenna settings in the receiver... so if the dish is aimed correctly, do a factory default reset, upload bin 149 again, recheck the antenna settings, scan the sats, let the keys roll (be patient may take 5 - 30 minutes or so), and watch TV...and if U have any more problems, REBOOT receiver OFF for 5 minutes and then ON using the REAR switch... |

I am putting BEV 86 and 96 keys in DN 00 and 01. Nothing is working. Well actually this is my first time with BEV, have always used DN before with no problems. Anybody with BEV experience, please point me to the right direction. I love reading but when my searches return 7005 results I run out of time to do that much reading. Help please.Thanks. |

Got, First, I think you should convert your Fortec STAR Lifetime Ultra to a Pansat 2700 and then use the BEV with the latest bin. FLUs are dying now .... a lot of people are having weird problems with their FTA boxes (FLUs) |

chris guinveras: The FLU will work at present with 294T BIN. Look for it in Fortec Ultra section of many sites and get the 294T BIN. Make sure it has a T at the end. This BIN will work fine up to a point. You will need to manually enter two numbers after a new set of keys autorolls. For details, go to http://forum.ecoustics.com/bbs/messages/2/389642.html You may also want to consider upgrading it to a Pansat 2700. There are very good reports of it. The procedure is a little more difficult than a simple upgrade of BIN, but you might consider it worthwhile. AV and Abby are two of the people who have been active in supporting this kind of an effort. For full detail, go to http://forum.ecoustics.com/bbs/messages/2/382668.html You will need to read in the forums where you download the files. http://www.future-fta.com http://www.dssrookie.com http://www.f2atv.com |

There are several files. If you want to do the job properly read what AV has to say in his link. http://forum.ecoustics.com/bbs/messages/2/382668.html then go to: http://www.dssrookie.com/forums/b-font-color-cd2626-ultra-files-font-b/ to get the files and instructions there. Make sure you unzip files before using. |

Channel 1, Gemini TV, Siurya TV and TV5 are all mirrored on channels 5714-5717 at 121° for some reason. Each channel appears to be an identical mirror available to subscribed customers. Update: The original channel slots for these channels (731, 799, 800, 806) all moved to tp 13 at 121. |

You don't need to go anywhere on the internet to find new keys. Most receivers have a new BIN that will do an autoroll and you will get the keys. This will happen when you are watching TV. There are a few,. notably Pansat 2500A,clone Pansat 2500A, fortec Ultra, Pantec. For these, you let the receiver do the autoroll. It will show waiting...205% etc. Let it cycle through and when that message goes off the screen, go to Parental control, turn off autoroll. Look at the Nagravision 2 keys and change the 2nd number in Key 00 and Key 01 To change the 2nd number, you will need a scientific calculator or use the calculator in your computer under windows. Go to scientific mode. Tick Hex for number system Then enter the number you are going to change, select XOR as the operation, and use 43 hex number after that. Press = and you will have the new number. Enter that number in place of the 2nd number. Do the same with the 2nd number of both key 00 and key 01. Exit,Exit, Exit and watch TV or turn off and on and watch TV. There is also a table available. Download the table and print it. Keep it by your side when you are watching TV, and change the 2nd number in Key 00 and Key 01 when necessary using the table. The table: http://forum.ecoustics.com/bbs/messages/2/389642.html |

Rida: LK provided misleading information to you. You heard rightâĶ bin/files sometimes carry âvirusesâ. They are called clone killers. If you have a Pansat 2500 clone, you do not use genuine Pansat BINs but instead use clone safe BINs ending with a âTâ â Latest is 294T If you have a Pansat 2700 clone, you do not use genuine Pansat BINs but instead use clone safe BINs called Tivo Latest is Pansat-C 2700 213v1 Tivo Also clone killers in Pansat 3500 files. Use only clone-safe BINs. Similarly there are clonesafe BINs for Megasat and other C00LSAT clones. You do not use original C00LSAT BINs. |

Bin files do NOT carry VIRUSES!....I thought U were this puter whiz, OBVIOUSLY NOT...also Dss sites check these files when they post them...so nalin again is providing WRONG BOGUS info! also...use of wrong bins will corrupt the eeprom in the receiver, BUT thats NOT a VIRUS!...and CLONE KILLERS are NOT a VIRUS...and are NOT contagious...Clone killers simply corrupt the Eeprom of a receiver, requiring sometimes a Jtag to correct the eeprom....and receivers are NOT killed by ANY viruses, but ONLY by use of the WRONG bin file for your receiver...each receiver has specific bins files made for it that are PERFECTLY SAFE... nalin...STFU and quit giving out BOGUS INFO! |

Rida: You heard LK . Lesson No. 1. Never contradict her in this forum. SHE IS ALWAYS RIGHT!! There are no viruses, just dead receivers from vviirruusseess. Lesson No. 2. LK is unique. Lesson No. 3. Nobody, just nobody uses profanity in this forum. Well, mostly nobody. You are unique if you use profanity, and only unique people may use profanity. |

Trinity: Enter channel 8282 and a screen will appear. You will see 4 lines, two for 00 keys and two for 01 keys. Be sure on top Nagra1 is selected. If you press OK in your remote, keys will appear. Also, when finished, key exit and when the reciever prompts you select "yes" to changes. Be sure to turn autoroll options off when entering manual keys, so that the keys dont change. if you donīt want to enter keys manually, intall a new bin, you can find it at: http://ftabins.net Where you also get instructions, for example, copied from that site, how to enter keys on a cool^sat ok click 8282 or mute than exit this will get you to your keys then : 10:xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx| 11:xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx|key00 20:xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx| 21:xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx|key01 key00-xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx key01-xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx and that's all there is to it............. Rida: Its very safe to install new bins, but as others have posted, you should be careful to avoid damaging your box. Usually, downloads from http://ftabins.net are safe Read the posts and instructions about your particular box, before installing new software. Also, its advisable to have the factory bin, just in case something goes wrong, you can reinstall the factory bin |

I entered my City name and About the SET UP... but was NOT sure which one I should choose.. Either Dish Network Dish500 (110-119) OR Dish Network Dish1000 (110-119-129) OR Dish Network SuperDish 121 (110-119-121) I live in Quebec Montreal. The result which I Got was as Follows........ True Azimuth: 234.76 ..Magnetic azimuth should be used when using an uncorrected compass Magn. Azimuth: 249.86 Skew Angle: 120.4 Dish Elevation: 23.48 CAN YOU PLEASE EXPLAIN TO ME WHAT IS magnetic azimuth.... PLEASE HELP ME.... SINCE 3 DAYS I AM turning round n round with the dish position... which dish do u have?...and what sats do u want?...just select the sats u want and use the elevation and azimuth markings on the actual dish itself as a general guide...then slightly tweak it VERY slowly...takes 2 people. or a sat finder and a TV on the roof...and using a DN receiver is the simplest way... there are MANY "Dish Pointing Tips" posted at all sites... |

How to align a dish... http://www.dsscommunity.co*m/forums/viewforum.php?f=85 http://www.dsscentral.ne*t/dishtips/ ...Much more than the below at this link... Dish Pointing Tips General Site Survey To get a signal, the satellite dish must be pointed directly at the satellite, with NO obstructions between the two. This means NO trees and NO buildings. Take into consideration future tree growth, house remodeling or additions and new construction in your area. The satellite signal WILL NOT PASS through leaves or branches. Use our Satellite Look Angle calculator to determine the proper dish angles. Finding a Clear Line of Sight Get yourself a good compass, the best you can afford. Check the "Azimuth" and "Elevation" for your location here! Locate at least one site on your property that has a clear view to the satellite. Do you have at least one clear view to the satellite? Remember, no trees, leaves, or buildings can be between the dish and the satellite. If the answer is NO, your site may not be suitable for installing the satellite system. If the answer is MAYBE, you may want to contact a local digital satellite dealer for information about having a professional installer conduct a thorough site survey. If the answer is YES, your site should be suitable for installing the system. Go ahead to the next section of these instructions. Where Is Intelsat America 5 Satellite? The satellite is always located south of Texas. That means if you live in Florida, you must have a clear line of sight to the southwest; if you live in California, you must have a clear line to the southeast. Depending on where you live, the satellite will be at an elevation angle between 30 and 60 degrees. Southern states point more toward 60 degrees; northern states point more toward 30 degrees. Use our Satellite Look Angle calculator to determine your dish elevation and azimuth. LNBF Polarization Tilt (skew): Your LNB is marked with a label indicating the polarization tilt. Your local LNB polarity offset information varies by location. If you are in Houston, TX your LNB polarization is to be set at 0 degrees. But if you are on the California coast your LNB polarization could be as much as minus 30 degrees (clockwise rotation). And if you are in Maine your LNB polarization could be as much as plus 30 degree (counter-clockwise rotation). Peaking the dish and adjusting the polarity of the LNB will greatly improve your Signal Quality reading. When adjusting your LNB, it's not going to be turned more than 31 degrees (unless you live in Hawaii). Also be sure you don't leave that LNB plastic bracket loose. The LNB won't pick up the satellite if the bracket is loose, and it's slightly off. Finally, when thinking about degrees, remember that 30 degrees is about 5 minutes on a clock. Don't turn the LNB too much! Make certain that the pole or tri-mast assembly is vertically plumb. Check it with an Angle Finder or a level. If the pole or tri-mast is not plumb, your azimuth and elevation will not be accurate and will cause difficulty when pointing the dish. Also, if you are using a pole mount, make certain you pour a sufficient footing that will provide proper ballast. A pole that does not have sufficient ballast will lean over time, causing you to lose the signal. Your mount must be very strong and can not wobble. You must use at least 4 lag screws (correct size for your installation) in the base mount one on each corner. When pointing the satellite dish, allow 5-10 seconds between any movements of the dish. This allows the receiver to complete a signal scan, and lock indicating that you have located the signal. A reasonable signal strength is between 50 and 80. If it is lower than that range, you are either pointing into an object (e.g. trees, shrubs, or structures) or pointing above or below the satellite. Your antenna installation position must have a clear view angle of the satellite you are trying to receive. There are other satellites within 2 degrees to the left or right that may use the same frequency. This will provide a strong signal strength reading but no signal quality or signal lock. If you have a high strength reading but are not able to lock on, try adjusting the dish slightly to the right or left. When you are attempting to set up a satellite dish in a heavily wooded area or one with lots of man made obstructions, it helps to understand how the dish really works. One common misconception is that the dish points 'directly' at the satellite. This isn't the case for most dish designs. The apparent elevation of the dish is 15 or more degrees lower than it's actual receiving window. Have a look at this diagram.... it's easier to see it than it is to explain it..... If you complete the above steps properly, your chance of a successful installation is 99.9%. Be aware that when you have finished your mechanical installation and you are trying to aim your dish that the receiver waits about 3-5 seconds after it locks on to the correct signal before it registers on the receiver's signal meter on the antenna aiming screen on your TV. Move your dish in very small increments (2 deg East or West each instance until you find the signal then 1 deg to peak signal). If you move the dish too fast and do not pause between moves you might go thru the signal before the receiver can tell you that you are on the signal. If you use a signal meter you can hook it into the system right at the dish and it responds to the signal immediately making it much easier to aim your dish. You do not need any one else to help you if you use a meter at the dish. Compare Signal Strength and Quality Zero Strength and Zero Quality: If this is the symptom you are experiencing, then the receiver is currently not receiving the signal from the dish. Check all connections between your receiver and the dish. Make sure that they are all plugged in to the proper place and are tight. One of the most common connection problems is to have the cable coming from the dish plugged in to the connection marked "In from Antenna," which is incorrect. The cable coming from the dish needs to be plugged in to the connection marked "In from Dish, Digital In, or LNB IN" Also, the cables might have developed a short or might have gotten moisture in them, especially out at the dish. If this is a possibility, you may want to have an installer check the cables or take them to an installer yourself. 0-30 Strength and Zero Quality: If you are experiencing these levels of strength and quality, you are getting only noise signals. Make sure that there are no obstacles between the dish and satellite. 40-60 Strength and Zero Quality: With this level of strength and a lack of quality, it is very likely that the dish has moved since its initial installation or you are still off alignment. We recommend going through the Dish Installation pointing steps and finding the satellite signal again. This will likely take just a few minor adjustments of the dish since it should not have moved very much. Key causes for this problem include bolts not being tightened properly, heavy winds, or the dish being struck or bumped by something. Once the signal has been found again, make certain all bolts are tightened well. We also recommend that once you have everything tightened down and have your signal back, make a mark from the cap mount to the pole with paint or some other permanent substance. This will give you a reference point, should any future problems occur. You can also make a mark on the side of the cap mount where your elevation markings are imprinted. 40-60 Strength and 30-70 Quality: This level of strength and quality indicates that the dish needs to be fine-tuned to the satellite. You may have noticed that prior to getting the "Bad or No Signal" message your picture was occasionally blotchy and your audio may have been out of sync with the picture. These are all symptoms of the need to fine-tune the dish. Optimum signal quality is between 70 and 100. TIP: You can fine-tune your dish by going back to the signal strength screen. While the signal bar is running, have someone out at the dish. He will need to loosen the collar that holds the LNB. This is done by slightly loosening the two screws that hold the collar together. Once these screws are loose, slowly twist the LNB a fraction of an inch. After each movement allow 5 seconds for the receiver to register the change and update your quality reading. If the quality readings immediately begin to get lower while the adjustments are being made, then the LNB needs to be turned in the other direction. Once the LNB fine tuning is complete, tighten the two screws on the LNB collar. You may then complete the scan by pressing START. Elevation - The Up/Down positioning of the satellite dish Azimuth - The Left/Right positioning of the satellite dish |
