I have a Panasonic TH-42PD50U manufactured in July '05. This set has a white line running vertically down the left side of the screen under any input conditions (TV, DVD, etc). Line is about 3/4" wide, and is about 8" from the left side of the screen. Anyone have any ideas? Clues? Fixes?

I have the same problem with my Philips 42" plasma. I've visited 1/2 dozen other a/v forums and several have recomennded the same fix. Mark where the line is on the frame. Remove the rear cover and observe the flat brown ribbons that attach to the screen. The one near your mark should be the culprit. Many have been able to fix this problem with a small soldering iron to just touch the components till the solder melts. Careful! If a component has a cold or loose joint, this may solve your problem. If not, replace that small board.
