I'm just out of college, so i don't have a huge budget. I could buy a used 43'' Samsung DLP (HLN4365W) from some guys I know. Its about 3 years old, had its lamp replaced about 2 years ago, and has had heavy us but works fine. Or, I could buy a brand new budget brand, such as Vizio. What do you guys think?

Well, Chris, you could go with a CRT rear projection unit, they have a pretty good picture, especially in HD, I have a Phillips 52 inch and I am happy with it so far. You can pick up a decent one for less than 1500 but the extended warranty can come in handy.

Another route is to go with a LCD flat panel, they are a lot cheaper than plazmas and have great HD PQ.

The best advice I can give though, is to shop around and read customer feedback before you make a purchase.

As for the used one I personally would be hesitant to do it because it could go out the next day and you are out however much you paid, or it could last 5 years, I would at least anticipate replacing the lamp again soon.

Good Luck
