Hey, I was thinking about those high-definition VCR's. They have component video and hdmi output. I wondered if these would be the best way to transfer your old home movies and whatnot to DVD (with the best dvd recorder of course) at the best quality you could get out of the tape! |

Andre, are you talking about Digital VHS? And then from D-VHS to DVD? Seems like needless overkill to me. Since standard VHS maxes a 260 lines res vs. DVD at well over 400, the introduction of a hi-def recording device between the two accomplishes little.
Even S-VHS and Hi-8 barely squeak out 400. Transfer those old home movies directly to DVD. |

You're going to end up losing quality, not gaining it. You'd be better off to invest in a VCR with a built in TBC, or a seperate TBC. |
