I am considering buying a Samsung DLP TV Model HDS5087W. I spoke with a local repair shop and they advised that since we live in Tucson, Az and it is so dry here that they would not recommend Samsung because the lubricant in the color wheel dries up and the repair is $400. Has anyone heard of this problem? |

The color wheels were re-designed. They are all (air bearing frictionless) now. Enjoy the set! |

I posted this in another thread but haven't received a reply yet. I have an HLN617W that, like many Samsung owners, needs a new color wheel. My question is can the new air bearing frictionless wheel be retrofitted into that model? Other than the wheel, I've been extremely pleased with the Sammy DLP. My only complaint would be the remote, which has to be pointed DIRECTLY at the receiver. |
