So my NEC has been acting funny and going straight into standby. Once, after moving it around, it went into component screen. Other than that, its just a click and standby. No fans or anything. So today I take off the back to look at power supply to see if there's obvious damage. Looks good to me (not a tv repair person, mind you) and just for the hell of it, power it up. It powers up and the fans are going and it seems to be fine. I try it several times and it powers up each time. My question is, what the heck was wrong with it and will this problem come back? |

Someone suggested that this may be a thermal sensor. Does anyone know about this and does this make sense? If so, is this easily replacable? |

Well a couple of things; Could be a power supply problem. Or it could be something simple like a bad capacitor/resistor; often that will require a board be changed out. Usually a good tech can locate the problem. |
