My fiancee just bought me the 5679. It's expensive but an amazing set. With a 1080p upconverting DVD player and HDMI cable, the movie picture is spectacular in color and detail. Also cool is ability to play MP3's and watch JPEG slide shows via the USB port. In fact you can connect any computer to it. Haven't gotten HD yet from Direct TV, so can't comment on HD programming. If you wait a bit, I'm sure prices will get closer to $3000 as more units get built. Now about $3600 plus tax and shipping. |

"can't comment on HD programming" Uhhh....hook up that UHF/VHF off-air antenna to the "Air" input, run the Auto-Tune, and watch HD for free! Digital network channels will have a -1 designation! |
