I am looking for the best size plasma for my viewing distance. The front of the couch will be just over 7 feet from the tv and thus I will be about 8 feet away. I am looking at either a 50 inch or 42 inch but you don't get a good sense of viewing distance at a Bestbuy or Circuit City. What size would be best and still give me a great picture? Any suggestions are much appreciated! |

You may want to check this out. It is a viewing distance calculator. http://www.dtvcity.com/lcdtv/lcdscreensize.html |

Thanks. However, let me ask my original question this way. Sitting about 8 feet away, will a 50 inch plasma be to large??? How will the picture at that distance compare to a 42 inch plasma? |

That will be fine John. The viewing distances are not set in stone. It was primarily intended to make sure that you do not suffer a great deal of eye strain from panning through the widescreen trying to absorb all the visual information. The resolution and brightness or detail will not suffer. |
