I thought I would start a new subject discussion and ask if we can categorize the various problems over the years (I've been on this board for only 5 months). From what I've read, I can list (and none have affected me (yet)):

* Lamp/bulb failures - this dead horse has been beaten a lot; possible solving with improved bulbs

* Ballast failures - some lamp failures may be related to this

* Light engine - replacements needed but a software fix might solve the problem

What else? Do we see improvement trends?

My 575 (very early version; one of the first built) required two light engine replacements before I had a third issue. JVC replaced the TV with a brand new G series that has run like a charm for 1 year. Never had a bulb failure in either TV (both running 1 year with an average of 5 hours per day (actually probably more than that)). JVC customer service and field technical staff were always EXCELLENT with me.
