I have a Toshiba 3980 DVD player that is hooked up via component. While I was watching a movie (Pirates of the Carribean) it took a dump so I had to break out my back up which is a cheap $30 walmart APEX with only S vid. But to my surprise and dismay the picture looked better. The colors seemed truer and clarity was great and the black seemed blacker.

Now I know that component is better but what gives? Is it the Toshiba or my TV that would make that happen?

Please help me, by the way I have a JVC HD-ILA for my TV, if that makes a diff.
