I bought one Akai 42" plasma from Tigerdirect two years ago. Last night the screen went to black when I was watching the TV, it still has audio. Any idea what's wrong?

Have you tried a different connection type? Component vs HDMI....Also, try rebooting your receiver. I have that issue once and simply doing a hard boot on my DISH box fixed it.
