Sorry guys but here is my problem. I never watch TV...ever! However my girlfriend enjoys it and we both watch movies quite often.

I went to our local wal-mart to get some groceries today and ended up coming home with a 52" RCA projection tv and an RCA HDMI DVD player.

I'll admit, i'm sure the TV is low quality to begin with but I really want the best picture possible with the setup.

I ran to best buy and told a guy about my situation. He sold me on a set of monster cables, HDMI to DVI. I had no idea my tv was DVI but he apparently knew what he was talking about. He also mentioned a bunch of stuff that was waaaay over my head. The one thing I did catch was something about the cable no working right if the DVD player doesnt have progressive scan. Is this true?

Can you guys help me out? I'm sooo lost and I feel like I may have made a mistake buying on a whim today.

Here is the TV http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=4872141

Thanks again people!

Although I would have bought a TV with HDMI ports plus 1366 aspect ratio, there is nothing wrong with what you bought. Your DVD does have progressive scan and your cables should work. What you aren't getting is a better picture, and that is all.
