Hi-- I just bought an RCA HDTV-rated switcher, an RCA HD4DCA, for component video, to be able to switch from my DirecTV HD Tivo unit, to a Sony HD Handycam on input 5, the only input on the set capable of displaying HD content. Unfortunately, I soon realized that I needed an extra component video cable. I didn't have the third cable, so instead, I found a Monster A/V cable in a closet (which IIRC, is of pretty decent quality). I figured the electronics in it must be pretty much the same as for component video, so I used that as a replacement. However, when I connected everything, although the HD picture looks fine in most scenes, the picture starts jumping around, and is sometimes lost altogether, whenever the signal gets too hot(?). So now I can't tell if this is some incompatibility with the switcher, or that the cable isn't rated for component video use. What do you think...? All My Best, Jeffrey |
