The unit is about 4 years and a month old. We have had no problems up until about a week ago. Load in a disc and push play, the unit says it is reading (which is normal) and then a few seconds later it says "no disc". Everyonce in a while if you have the patience you might get it to work. I have tried to test/reset the system with no luck. What do you think? |

Clean the lens and spindle with a q-tip wet with alcohol. |

David, Electronics is not really my gig. I removed the housing to the DVD player, which exposed all the electronics and the "DVD player". When the DVD disc door is open I can see something that might resemble the lens. Is that the laser? I guess what I need to know is how do I clean the lens and spindle. Keep it simple please. Thanks, Stu |

The lens is a plastic eye, the spindle is what the disc sits on. Usually it's easy to get to the lens to clean it, not always though. |

Took the unit apart and delicately cleaned, but still doesn't work. Maybe needs new optics (time for a new DVD player). Thanks for your time. Stu |
