Just a little FYI: I own a 50 in. Sony LCD XBR. It's about 3 years old and haven't had any problems until this week. I would turn it on and after about 1 minute the picture would turn off and the stand-by light would flicker.It would then go back on and the same thing would continue to happen. I called the Sony company and the Tech there was pretty useless. Her idea of fixing the problem was to unplug my tv, wait, and plug it in again.(Her suggestions were frustrating me.) I found this forum to be very insightful and decided it was my bulb that needed to be replaced. A technician came out for $45 and changed the bulb ($200). I'm happy to say my tv is as good as new.
