Hi I'm what you call a newbie. Anyways I got my new pansat in the mail there last week hooked it all up read almost every post about how to set it and what to do. So on Friday when everything went for S#@# I was entering keys and doing this and that. Pretty much following instructions off here. Now I have a problem my pansat turns on I get the little green light but nothing else. Is there something a did? How can I fix it. Please help. Thank you! Scott

Same here, I applied the new bin that got released end of May and my receiver was toast.
I just see the green light no output and response to anything, except power on/off.
I tried several times to reload the bin wiht my laptop using the cable, but no luck.
I am suspecting there is no fix, but I respect and believe in the experts of this board. Any help appreciated.

Try reloading the factory bin, then load an older bin and use that for now.
There was also what was called a 'jtagless' program at dsscentral*net. Now, it says it's for 2500 and 2700's but it's also there, not sure if you would want to try it or not.
The only other option would be to jtag it.

Thanks for the quick feedback.
I tried several times to load the bins with no luck. I am using GTRom Loader version 3.4 and version 3.42. Is there a specific version that you recommend?
One think that I observed, with ver 3.4 it does not display any error or will it timeout. But with version 3.42 after about 90 seconds or so the loader will give me a error telling me that it failed "Do you want to retry or igonre?" with buttons.
I am not ready to give up yet, thanks for the support

. Make sure you use the proper serial cable for your receiver:
Most Fortec and Pansat use a straight through cable with DB9 females on both ends.
The Blackbird, Pansat 2700/3500 and some other receivers use null (crossover) cable, which crosses over pins 2 and 3.

I'm gonna crash and burn before I ever get going. I got all of about 2 hours of tv in since I got this thing. So much to learn. But thanks for the help I will go and pick up the cable tomorrow and try that. |

I just took a look at the download instructions and it says to use a null modem cable so I think I got the right one its just getting it to work i downloaded the loader from pansat but is there a diffrant one i could try? |

Don’t know what yours looks like.
But if it has the sd card slot and looks authentic then chances are no, it's not a clone.
One of the newer bins did create some trouble for some 3500's.
Go to one of the older bins and try that, the 145 I think worked well Sled. You'd have to manually enter the keys but that shouldn't be a problem, it's been posted a hundred times around here how to do it.

I have similar problem with my Fortec LU. I just uploaded X-85BL_060609_277_au_api_.bin file bc someone said that it works on their clone unit so i uploaded. After 100% unit turned off then turned back on but it's stuck with receiver's screen saying 'on' and it doesn't do anything or accepts anything. Tried to upload old bin that i had but unit just turns off and my laptop is saying couldn't upload. Any ideas? |

no, When I switch it on from the back, the green LED (on the front) turns on and nothing else, when I conncet it to the TV (through RCA connections) It doesn't display ANYTHING |

its a long soldering process and cable making, that U must read about at ANY other DSS site but here..or pay an electronic store $60 to do it!

the RS232 cable I am using always worked before, and I got it with the satellite, I really don't think I am putting it in the wrong port I may be new to this satellit stuff but I would say I am very good with technology. |

Here are a few tips if you are having difficulty flashing: loading a bin..
I would advise everyone to read a set up guide before flashing. But, since people have been having some problems, I have revised this to provide more detailed information. But this is not intended to be a substitute.
1. Make sure you use the proper serial cable for your receiver:
Most Fortec and Pansat use a straight through cable with DB9 females on both ends.
The Blackbird, Pansat 2700/3500 and some other receivers use null (crossover) cable, which crosses over pins 2 and 3.
2, With the power turned off, connect it to your computer and receiver using the serial connector. Use serial port #1 if you can.
3. If you do not have a working SERIAL port, you must install one or use a computer that has one. Usb ports do NOT usually work, except on rare ocassions with an adapter.
4. Use the appropriate loader.
5. Select the file. Make sure that it is the correct flash for your receiver.
6. Select the COM port your receiver is connected to. If you do not know, what it is try #1 first.
7. Enter the correct model name and number. Most Blackist updaters do Not require this.
8. Check off the correct function box. Your choices are boot, flash or channel list. To FLASH your receiver you would use FLASH. Most flashes do not require a separate boot; so do not load both separately.
9. Turn on the receiver power from the BACK switch.
10. As soon as you see the lights flash,very first light -- IMMEDIATELY press download. Timing is critical and many vary.
11. Wait until it COMPLETES and reboots.

Pansat 3500 REprograming
How to Load and Save Files to the Pansat 3500S
3500 - THE SD/MMC WAY:
Insert virgin SD/MMC card into receiver.
Press [menu]
Select [SD Memory]
Note: Receiver will automatically create 3 directories on the card:
CH Data Backup
Code Backup
MP3
(For Virgin cards only -Take the card out at this point and load your unzipped bin or channel list file to the card in the appropriate directory. Now put the card back in and re-access via menu as stated above.)
Select bin file in appropriate directory, main directory, [ch data backup] or [code backup]
Press [OK]
Select [data restore]
Press [OK] to load, receiver will automatically load, confirm, then reboot.
TO SAVE DATA
Insert SD/MMC card into receiver.
Press [menu]
Select [SD Memory]
Select an appropriate directory, main directory, [ch data backup] or [code backup] by using [up or down arrows] and [OK]
Press RED button in left bottom corner of remote.
Name your file on the alphanumeric screen file by scrolling via [arrows] to next character and then pressing [OK] for each character or [del] to correct a character. To save selected name, press [OK] on the alphanumeric screen.
Bin File will then write automatically to the correct directory.
Size of files:
CH = 352 kb
Code = 768 kb
Use GREEN button (beside the RED button) to delete selected and unwanted
files.

Download Procedure for Pansat 3500S
1. Connect RS232 Null Modem(#2,3 crossed) cable between the receiver and PC.
2. Turn the receiver power ON.
3. Open the GTRom Loader V3.36(Pansat 3500S).
4. Click BIN FILE and select the Bin File to be downloaded.
5. Select FILE TYPE and click Download.
6. Do not interrupt the receiver power while downloading.
7. Press OK after Download Complete!! Appear on the PC screen.

I have the exact same problem Googi. My reciever worked for a month on old bin and only for a couple hours on new one. Now only green light appears on front like yours. I also use the loader from extrememicro website so I assume we bought our recievers at same place. |

Where do I find instruction to Jtag? I have tryed everything I had to make a serial cable because I could not find a null modem that crossed on #2 and #3. Didn't work! So I will try this Jtag and if that doesent work I have a Pansat 3500s for sale cheap hardly used lol! Any help is great thanks! |

On dss***tester is the J-Tag instructions are for a 2500. Will this also work for a 3500s?
Assuming my 3500s is not a clone, how/why did it get "zapped" after working only a couple hours on the new bin? |

You have to load the latest boot file for the pansat 3500. Turn the back switch off then on then flash it with the factory bin. |

yea I got mine from extrememicro off of eBay too, and the extrememicro guy told you that if you need files go to his site and get the latest updates/email him, right?
well if you, sledneck and I got it from the same kind of bid then the item description reads :
"Genuine Pansat 3500s FTA Satellite TV Receiver Kit New In Box."
so I guess it is a real unit, but we can always ask.
clones don't have the sd/card port and a holographic sticker do they? |

hi i am a newbie at this whole thing. i downloaded a file off http://dsstester*com/files.php?cat=14 file current ppv blackout fix. and my panset 3500 will not do any thing. all it says on the panset is b - 70 someone told me i had to flush the system. how do you do that and what happen to it? is there any way i can pervent that? |

Didn't i already answer this? Load the latest boot file. That should give you nightrider lights then load the factory bin then the latest bin. You don't need to jtag 95 percent of the time if you have any lights on the front. |

I have a new 3500 and after loading the new bin, I got nothing. Then I reloaded and nothing. Nothing for a third time. Last time I loaded the same new bin that everyone is using, and then hit "factory settings" on the main menu. Selected the Echo 7 and 8, ran the scan on both, got tv. Try it, however if you are not even getting the regular menu screen, this is not going work for you. |

I have loaded the latest bin on my 3500SD and haven't had any luck thus far. Just canadian radio stations of Echo 7 and 8. I'm on satellite 110. Any suggestions? |
