You've been extremely helpful in explaining all all of this technology so that a newbie like me can understand, and I thank you for that. I know now that cablecards are currently 1-way and cannot be used to record. I also know that future 2-way cards will not work in the current one-way tv slots. My question is this:
Is there a possibilty that sometime in the future, these 1-way slots can be made compatible with 2-way cablecards by way of some kind of technolgy placed in a DVD Recorder? Maybe some sort of software or something? I'm probably just dreaming.

My Sharp 32-7DU has a built-in tv guide with audio/video outputs. Would that enable me to record analog & digital channels using a cablecard and a dvd recorder with ATSC tuner? How about recording one channel while watching another?Upload
