My mother and I happened to stop by a yard sale while I was out celebrating Mother's Day with her. We found a TV/VCR combo for only $30, and since my mother needed a VCR and our local Wal-Mart doesn't even carry VCRs anymore, we went ahead and bought it. We figured even if only the TV worked, at least it might be worth it.
It doesn't work! The VCR part doesn't work at all, and when the VCR shuts itself off it shuts the whole TV off. We have no idea what to do. Does anyone know how to fix something like this or can point me in the right direction? I've googled it, but found very few useful hits.

Does the VCR do anything? Is the cassette carriage up or down? The tuner is in the VCR, so if you can't get the VCR to stay on, the TV isn't going to work either. |

When we first plugged it in and tried to put a tape in it, the tape would not go in all the way. The VCR kept trying to play it, STOP and PLAY at the top of the screen, etc. Then it started shutting off. |
