I am trying to transfer a vhs to a dvd. My system is a Panasonic DMRES 40V, a stand alone VHS DVD player/ recorder that I have hooked up to my tv.. I have burned onto a DVD-R and a DVD RAM. Both play back on the Panasonic to my t.v., but I can't play either on my laptop or my desk top- both saying they support all DVD medias, but ask me to insert a dvd that has media on it. ( I have a sneaking suspicion Bill Gates has an interest in DVD discs)

Finalize the DVD-R. Most burners don't do RAM and no DVD-ROMs do RAM as far as I know.
