I am using the DMR-ES20 Panasonic to record on with a Sima CT-200 connected to a Sony dvd player. I bought some Memorex DVD-R.
I did my first test run yesterday and it came out a little fuzzy. I may need to switch to S-Video.

Anyway, the problem is when I put it in my main player(SONY) it reads :Disk Is Dirty.
It will play fine in the DMR and my son's PS2 but not the Sony.

What can be the problem?
Should I try a different name brand of disk? +R?

Any help will be appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
Bill

Older Sony players are media picky, the new ones aren't too bad. You never know what you are getting with Memorex, they don't make their own discs and use different manufacters. Stay away from 16x discs with a standalone.

So you are saying I need to switch to another brand?
Any recommendations?
And should I go with +R now?

Thanks again!!

I don't use + discs, so I really don't know about them. If you want the best discs, get Taiyo Yuden. You can get them at Supermediastore, Meritline, Rima, Shop4tech. It may be that the Sony just won't play burned discs. Older Sony players are very picky.

I have a Toshiba D-R4SU a DVD recorder. I have tried to record my VHS that I had bought a long time ago onto a DVD. I get a copy protected message and Toshiba does not offer any help on how to "fix" this problem. Is there any way I can get a "hack" code for this? I did however was able to transfer onto a DVD some VHS that I had already done onto VHS that I never got the message, I am thinking it might be I had to buy a new VHS player and the new VHS player transmit the code, is ther ea "hack" code for the VHS player to stop that transmission? Please e mail me at sixxdogg at juno dot com Thank's!

No hack, you need a stabilizer, been done here many times.

My new Sony GX315 does -not- like Memorex ( -R ). It will record them (sometimes), fault on them (sometimes), and generally won't play on any other machine (-if- it plays again on the GX315 again). (and yes, they are finalized)

Found this out via Sony's Product Specialist who suggested I buy TDK or Fuji. Got the Fuji ( -R ) which works great.

Memorex doesn't make their own discs, so it's a craps shoot on what you get. Same with Fuji.

If you want the best discs, Taiyo Yuden. You'll probably have to get them online at Supermediastore, Rima, Meritline, Shop4Tech. The last one has 10% off sales every holiday, just go to the websight and sign up for their mailings. I haven't used TDK, people used to say they were good, I don't know about now. I don't know how fast you use discs, Supermediastore has TY discs for 24 cents each with free shipping if you buy 300 of them. They don't come on spindles and they can be 8x or 16x discs. Some standalones don't like 16x discs. They sell them as 4x, but I think all the 4x discs have been gone for awhile, they quit making them 1 1/2 years or so ago. They are B grade discs, but they are still good discs. Out of over 2000, I've had 4 bad ones.

Hi there.
I am having problems formatting my TDK dvd-rw discs on my LG recorder.
I try to format them in Video-mode to allow me to watch the dvd on other players, but it comes up saying format failed, but will only allow me to format in VR-mode,which does not allow the discs to be played on other players.I am finalising the discs as well.Any ideas,do I need to try another make of DVD-RW discs.?
