I am trying to hook up new DLP TV with new DVD player using component connections and the picture is a scrambled mess of green and red tracking across my screen. What am I doing wrong?

Are you sure all the connections are in the right place? Green to green, red to red, blue to blue. If the TV isn't digital or HDTV, you can't use progressive scan.

I know this seems like a no-brainer, but I have tried two different (new) component cables and the colors are matched up. The TV is HDTV ready and in fact, shows component cable set up in the directions. I have also tried three different available component connections on the back of the TV (it has 7 inputs). I'm getting the same scramble.

Go into the setup of the DVD player and make sure component is selected. I had the same thing happen when I disconnected the HDMI cable and tried component cables.
