Well... I was hooking up my PS2 to my 36" Sony Trinitron the other day after a month vacation. I noticed something I hadn't before, Component Inputs. Above it said "HD/1080i/480i/480p." Needless to say, I was quite happy and dumbfounded that I never noticed this (its not a brand new tv). So I went out and bought component cables for my Progressive Scan DVD player.

Here's the question. I have a 4:3 tv. I have my DVD player set to output 480p. No problems, the tv accepted it. However, should I also tell the DVD player that my tv is 16x9? The tv itself has a "16x9 enhanced mode" in its menu. Or is this rather redundant with the picture set to 480p? Is 480p giving me all the extra vertical resolution I'm going to get, WITHOUT 16x9 set on both the tv and DVD player? Thanks all!!
