I am really confused. My plasma does not have anymore HDMI outputs and I want to buy a DVD player which I will hook up with components.

Will it automatically default to the 720 rather than the 1080i?

Are there any DVD players I can buy that will convert to 1080i with components?

Sorry if this thread has been written but I could not find any similar.

Thanks

Your not looking hard enough then... there are several. Short answer = yes, there are many upconvert models that work either with component, OR a cable with HDMI out and DVI in. However, DVD players do NOT "default" to 720P, they are normally 480P, the up-converts allow you to upgrade to 720P or 1080i.
