Hi, can anyone help please.

The kids had a "movie marathon" last night and now their DVD/VCR won't work - teenage boys are great!!
DVD appears to be playing okay inside the machine but the output signal is shot.
When you switch the machine on and off it tries to scan a new output signal. It shows the LG logo in a very wavy shape for a few seconds and then reverts to the blank blue screen.
In my non-techno-speak it looks as if it's trying to rescan the output and then giving up.
All the connections are fine.

Does anyone have any ideas?
