I can't seem to get my dvd player to work ...I have an old ge tv so I got an rf modulator to hook it thru but I lost the original remote we have a universal one and we can't get ir to work on channel 3or 4...do I have to get an original remote to my old tv to make it work?

You can obtain a universal remote and use that to change the channel to 3 or 4 for your DVD player.

I would recommend that you get an RCA universal remote, particularly if the GE set was manufactured by Thomson. (Thomson owns the RCA brand and also makes GE home electronics under license from General Electric.) - Reinhart
