I was wondering about this new system Satellite companies are supposed to be bringing out soon. What exactly is it, and what makes it better than MPEG-2? Do Sirius and XM use MPEG-4?

I know for a fact that current receivers that decode MPEG-2 will be useless, like my Dish Network 811 HD tuner. Any ideas as to whether or not the satellite companies will foot the bill for the conversion or will the consumer be the one who covers the cost, or will the the consumer and the provider split the difference?

I also heard that DirectTV will unveil their MPEG-4 by the end of this year, or at least before Dish releases it. I hope this is good with Dish being able to see how it's actually implemented and to see what they can fix if there are any problems.
