Charlie decided to change the keys today. He changed them and then changed them BACK. Most probably too many complaints from real customers (but only Charlie know for sure or he's drunk and having fun with the data stream),

Anyone figure out what it was that actually happened?
Is it possible that Charlie has a ECM for FTA only and was testing it?
I ask this because I saw at least one report that DN receivers were not affected and running properly all during the time we were down. This eliminates the thought of Charlie having technical difficulties.

"Just what I thought, the key change is what is causing the receivers to lock. It seems that for some reason DN is delivering the keys in a different way and that's making the receivers to autoroll much longer that it used to be. After the receivers complete the autoroll sequence all channels comeback. Now the question is: Why all receivers are taking longer to find the keys? That question can only be answered by the coders..
Any ideas or theories?"

Why does everybody go on as if nothing happened yesterday?
Its important that somebody finds out and tells us what Dishnet is able to do.
So we can be ready for the changes that are coming.

What happen was they changed their data stream.
I would assume they are getting ready for the card switch. So enjoy it while you have it. |

This is what I found...been hearing "attempted" key change but had to go back to old keys, "successful" but slow roll of new keys ,but then saw this explanation too..
Here is an explanation about what happened from Spider, the coder for Spacestar:
Charlie can shut down the system for only 2-3 hours, and the original DN units will stay on.In this time they have to make any changes, the chip that the original unit carry is PCM17**, the system update is also called ECM. FTA units don’t carry that chip that’s why everytime they shut down the system for changes we get hit, but they cant go longer then 3 hours, because DN customers will be down also.
The plan of this change today was they are in a re-construction on the satellite ECHOStar 5 that is 129 , if you guy's go to that bird now you will be getting all local channels from all states..
That’s the reason for the shut down.

actually I don't know if that explanation is true...in fact, many other admins are saying its BS, and totally untrue..most are staying with the key change story.. |

I have no clue about Gold...I would think James Millard or boot have many more REGISTERED posts than me..I just recently registered, but I talk too much...LOL...but I probably have 10,000 posts here,from when I was LK, the Voice,casey jones,Bosox, chicago, PW, peckerwood, Applebee, key largo, etc..
Yeah maybe Ecoustics will send us a free lifetime memebership here...LOL
