my sony vcr slv 640hf has been working fine for years. The other day, after playing a baby einstein tape for my baby, it rewound, but wouldn't eject. Now I can fast forward & rewind, but can not eject the tape & the tape does not play now. Is there an easy way to remove the tape without taking the unit apart? |

Joe: In my experience, the only way to remove the tape is take the unit apart, by unscrewing and removing the top cover. The tape may now be damaged and unplayable. My guess is the idler wheel is worn out. These days it would cost more for repair than buying a new VCR. |

I have found 2 things that have worked when tapes wouldn't eject. They are 1) turn the vcr upside down and press the eject button, 2) use the remote eject button instead of the eject button on the vcr. This method has worked for me many times over the years. Hope this helps. |
