I recorded a show on dvd+rw on my rca dvd/vcr recorder I just bought--tried to play it on my sansui dvd/vcr player and all I get is err msg. The recorder manual says some machines are not dvd+rw compatible--how do I find out if that is the reason--and does that mean i'm confined to watching in the room i taped it in. Thanks

Did you finalize the disc? Use R discs, the compatibility is a lot better.

My manual says you only finalize r not rw. The manual on my player says it uses dvd-r dvd-rw. So is it impossible for it to play on this machine.

If they are -RW, they need finalized. I don't use + discs, so I don't know if they need finalized or not.
