Hi: does anyone have experience with playing dvd-r's on samsung dvdv-5500 combo? dvd-r's are burnt on pioneer dvr-rt500. In the samsung dvdv-5500 manual they say `dvd-r's may not be playable' etc, but this is not too helpful ... Thanks! Alex |

You'll be lucky if anything consistently plays on a Samsung combo unit. |

Thanks a lot for your advise! May I ask which dvd/vcr combo players are the best in terms of consistently playing dvd-r's as well as standard dvd-videos? dvd-r's are burnt on pioneer dvd recorder/vcr dvr-rt500. I did some research on the web but could not find anything consistent there either ... Best regards, Alex

You can't find anything consistent because combos are junk, buy seperate. |

Again, thanks for your advice! Maybe you could tell me which dvd-players you would prefer? I am interested in a reliable and not so expensive dvd player which would consistently play dvd-r's (I am dubbing lots of home videos onto dvd-r's using pioneer recorder dvr-rt500). Best wishes, Alex |

I use 2 JVC XV-N410B players. Pretty much all that I play is DVD-R, once in awhile an RW or a factory disc. It plays flawlessly every time, and I use it pretty heavily. That's last years model, it's 510 or 512 or something now. |
