I own a 4 year old Mitsubishi WS-55807 55" projection tv. Recently the top and bottom parts of the screen have a bow-like effect causing distortion on the top and bottom of the screen - yet the middle of the screen is ok. Resetting the convergence from the remote back to the orginal factory default setting does nothing. Some days it's fine and on others its unwatchable. I've heard that the solder joints can go bad as well as the 6"x8" heat sink.

All the local tv shops - (Bergen County, NJ) want $70 to $100.00 for an in-home service call just to take a look at it. With my luck, they will come and the problem won't be there.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

I have a similar problem with my Hitachi. Based on the research I've done it will cost any where between $300-$750.00 to fix. The in-home service call charge is normal. Even if you are covered under warranty you still need to pay the fee.
