My parents are planning on buying a new TV because our old Sony CRT is about to die after 13 years. We were looking around and came across the "Samsung HL-R4266W". I was wondering what do you guys think about it? Is it worth buying? Or do you recommend something else? I am aware the DLP's may have a rainbow effect, but I haven't noticed it yet. I was looking at Plasma, but a lot of the Plasma's come with EDTV resolution of (852x480). Which in turn wouldn't get the full HDTV experience. And I'm afraid of burn-ins and heat problems. My family watches nearly 10-12hrs of TV a day combined. LCD came into mind as well. But it doesn't have a true black, so the color isn't what I expect it to be. As well as the blurryness of the image during a fast sequence. That blurryness will tick me off. Our max budget is $2200. P.S. - If you recommend a Plasma TV, please recommend one that comes with 1,280x720 resolution, and the new feature they started to have to prevent burn-ins (sorry forgot what it was called, but it shifts the pixels around to prevent burn-ins). We are looking for a TV around 42" (Mitsubishi, LG, Samsung, Pioneer, Sharp). I've heard these are good. Thanks in advance. |

You're on the right track. I've owned two Samsung DLP sets. The "R" series is excellent. Don't pay too much! http://www.digital1234.com/product.jsp?x=HLR4266W http://www.digital1234.com/product.jsp?x=HLR5067W http://www.digital1234.com/product.jsp?x=HLR5667W http://www.digital1234.com/cat_detail.jsp
