I am thinking about purchasing a D-VHS vcr that was a leader in the field in 2000 - this:

I don't know if it was released in the US? But as my final dip into the VCR market is this vcr worth my time? I fully intend to use D-VHS blanks on it btw. 12hrs of recording from a single tape is very appealing.

Could I get the thoughts of the forum on this one please.

Thanks

You may want to consider a dvd recorder instead. VHS is almost phased out of the market, and the next big thing in videos will be high definition DVD's. I would get a DVD recorder instead, and if you want vcr capabilities, I would get a combo drive. There is my two cents.

Listen to the words of wisdom, stay away from combos though and buy seperate.

Your tapes are going to degrade over time, you would be wise to put them on DVD as soon as possible, before it's too late. VHS is dying format. Why waste the time and money on obsolete technology?
