In an attempt to use S-Video throughout my entire HT System, I replaced separate VCR & DVD with Combo, only to discover that the unit has no S-Video for VCR portion! (Costco will be delighted to allow return!). Component video isn't an option-Only Composite & S-Video on T.V. Would everyone agree that I should search for SEPARATE VCR, which DOES have S-video? Incidentally (in my humble opinion), S-Video is no great improvement on Composite. |

You'll have to buy an S-VHS to get s-video. With the poor quality of VHS, what difference does it make? |

Agreed! However, having used a dvd Recorder with its voluminous formats (which don't play on standard dvd players) & general inability to record premium channels, VCR Still has advantages. |

I've used a half a dozen DVD recorders, I haven't had any compatibility or recording problems. |
