I have a Sony widescreen HDTV, and I can't get get a normal 4:3 picture to display in 4:3. The wide screen modes are Normal, Full, Zoom, and Wide Zoom. For whatever reason, NORMAL and FULL show up the same. I can't get a 4:3 picture to show up with the bars on the side. Has anyone encountered anything like this before? Is there a way to fix this. I feel like I've tried everything there is as far as on screen menu options go. |

Sounds like you have a cable converter box that's not set up right. If so, turn the cable box off and press menu on the box to access the setup. See if it has a "pass thru" setting or set it to output 720P. |

I thought that might be it, but it has the same problem with cable that isn't run through the box so it's not an exclusive cable box issue. Thanks for your response. |

If it is on a particular channel it may be that you are watching widescreen programming. You cannot shrink a 16:9 signal down to 4:3. xvxvxvx |

Also most Sony's have a stretch default setting in the menu that automatically stretches all 4:3 inputs. xvxvxvx |
