Is it true that any DirecTV HD Reciever I buy now will have to be replaced in a few months? Is a new technology being introduced by them that will require different recievers in the near future? Any help appreciated! R |

When you buy an HD receiver for a DirectV, they subsidize a major portion of the buy and expect to get their money back from you through a year or mores subscription. They ain't gonna throw their money away, you're worried about nothing. They will be good for some time to come, however, if you wait a year, the receivers they will be selling then will be better than the ones you buy now, and if you wait two years... |

Roy, Do some reading. Direct tv is coming out with a new receiver. The receivers they have now are called mpg 2 ,they will be coming out with a new mpg 4 receiver. The mpg 2 receivers will no longer work once they have the new ones on line. I heard direct tv will be giving current customers new HDTV receivers for free, so before you buy anything check with direct tv to be sure they will give you a new one for free. J Roo |
