i have 2 sony progressive scan dvd's with component cable outputs and can't figure out how to hook them up. i have hooked them up to 2 different tv's and still cant get a picture. i have tried all the device setups to no avail. help!

i have a 2005 mitsibushi 52" dlp projection tv with all types of inputs including hdmi. i can get the picture ok but when i switch to progressive scan the picture gets scrambled. i must not have the tv set up right.
