What I've got:
- Sony Digital 8 with FireWire input
- Computer that connects to aforementioned camcorder via USB
- old VCR
- lots of home movies on VCR tapes

What I want:
- copies of home movies on computer

No firewire outputs on old VCR.

Any ideas how to do this on the cheap?

Thanks! :-)

I bought a product called a Dazzle Digital Video Creator 90 by Pinnacle Systems at Circuit City. It is a box that has a USB to connect to your computer and video/audio input and s-video jacks to connect your vcr to. It was less than $100 and works great. It also comes with a program to help you copy your movies to dvd. The program sucks but is usable if you don't have anything else. It is extremely slow (the program) taking about 6 hours to copy a 2 hour movie. Hope this helps!
