i have a toshiba rd-kx50su hdd/dvd recorder and i want to record from my scientific atlanta 8300 hd/dvr cable box with a digital signal...my tv is a rca hd monitor with a dvi port...the recorder has a hdmi port..do i need the hdmi/dvi cable?...please help

You cannot record a digital signal to your DVD recorder, analog only. This applies to all stand-alone DVD recorders on the market today (the lone exception would be a Blu-Ray recorder currently only available in the Japanese market).
