I dont know if this is where I should post this but it seemed like the right place so if I'm wrong I apologize in advance!
I have a hitachi dvd player at home, & my husband, a truck driver, has a portable dvd player in his truck.
Problem is...my dvd player says it will play vcd's on cd-r or cd-rw but wont. All I get is an 'unrecognised disk please eject' message. It will play anything on a dvd-r or dvd-rw disk just fine...My husband's player is the opposite. It will only play cd-r or cd-rw vcd's and wont play dvd-r or dvd-rw disks.
Is there anything I can do so I dont have to spend hours re-encoding vcd cds to dvd disks so I can watch the movies at home? I'm not even all that concerned with the quality if I could just copy the vcd files to a dvd disk so my player will recognize and play it. I've tried everything I can think of & will be really grateful for any suggestions.

Better media, different software.
