Am new E85 owner and am intimidated by some of the posts here and elsewhere. I have Direct TV Satellite. When I perform the initial setup, do I select CATV or TV (seem to be the only options)? What other issues should I watch for on the initial setup? Other pitfalls?

Neither, use the s-video or RCA jacks from the satellite to the recorder, then set the recorder on whatever input you used.
