I have several of these units and I can seemed to get nothing to communicate with the box. I used a db9 to db9 and still nothing. I built the cable myself, just to ensure that it's straight through, but never connects. The sw Im using is AL7BAR STB Updater. I have no clue why it doesnt connect. The cable is good, and I cant beleive that all five of my boxes are bad.

LK.... if you have any insights on this, or anyone else I would appreciate it very much. Maybe I'm using the wrong sw? Or maybe my head is not tilted towards the moon at the right time.

Never mind :-).... I found that the solder joints needed to be resoldered, once I did that the cable worked just fine......
