myl mitsubishi 50" has suddenly gone wacky. if you know what is wrong with the t.v. and can recommend a tv repair person in the s.f. bay area who makes house calls, or whether this is a REPLACE instead of a REPAIR, please email blinde@5happy.com

Looks like a three dimentional grid from the service menu.
Nice reflection of your windows and curtains on that glaring Mitsu screen. I see you sitting there too! You might consider placing the set on the window side of the room facing in.
You don't have a small button pushing child do you?
That's a bizarr test pattern!
Have you tried unplugging the set for a few minutes? |

Plus I can see major convergence errors too, it maybe a simple fact, look at the manual, for troubleshooting.
If all fails there maybe a dry joint on the PCB or a IC that’s malfunctioned, if that is the case the cost will be quite small.

Bad capacitor or capacitors in the deflection circuit. Easy to fix if you're a tech. Shouldn't cost much. |

thank you for the specific response to my question(s)!
i was thinking a bad cap or solder joint. i'm not a tech (although i know enough to get myself in trouble), and i don't have the servce manual. there is a local company sending out a guy later today... $80 for the service call, we'll see.

$80.... Yeah, those things are hard to take in yourself unless you have a truck. I hope they don't hit you with board replacement but they might do that since a lot of shops won't get down to component level repair. I wonder if they would do that type of service in your house anyway. I'm able to take care of my own electronics so I don't call out. Let me know how things come out. |

My Sony exploded and I got me a DLP.
It's wonderful!
Sony CS won't send a proctologist so I guess I'll be sifting sh!t for some time. |
