ok here is the thing. i have some video on my video camera tape. what i need ot do is tranfer what is on the tapes onto my computer, then possibly at a later date burn onto cd. i have the vcr adapter thing you put the camera tape in and then put the adapter in the vcr and watch it. what cable do i need and what program for my computer do i need to make this possible?

I just did this and had to buy a firewire cable and then it worked fine... The red/yellow cables that came with my camera did not work. They'd get the video but no sound. I used Windows movie maker and it worked just fine to take the video off.
