For the last month I have noticed that the picture has become darker on our rear projection sony that i have owned since 98. The owners manual says that if the picture becomes dark after many years of use, it is necessary to clean the inside of the set. My question is: with the sony kp-61v45 can I clean the mirror and crt's from the front or must I go in through the rear. if possible I want to go in from the front. What is the procedure to clean it to restore the bright picture that I always had.

Because of how you asked the question, my advice is to call and get your TV serviced. At least get an estimate to decide whether it's worth messing with.
